THIS WEEK

The Feast of the Blessed Trinity - 16th June 2019

 Feastdays:

Sunday 16th June - Trinity Sunday

Sunday 23rd June - Corpus Christi

 sample.jpgBishop Brian’s Ad Limina visit. (To the threshold of the apostles.)- My Sisters & Brothers in Christ,  This year will mark the first time that I have experienced an Ad Limina visit to Rome with my fellow Australian bishops. The last took place in 2011 and usually happens every five years.  Most of the active bishops of Australia will be participating in the visit which takes place from 17–29 June 2019. We will begin with a five-day retreat outside of Rome. On 24 June, the Ad Limina will formally commence with an audience with Pope Francis. We will then visit the pontifical commissions, and congregations that oversee the life of the Church. Later that week, Archbishop Peter Comensoli will receive, from the Holy Father, the Pallium which recognises him as the archbishop of Melbourne and metropolitan of Victoria.  Pleased be assured of my prayers for the diocese as I travel around the different churches in Rome. I ask that you also pray for all the Australian bishops as we embark on this important journey. Yours in Christ   Most Rev Brian Mascord DD Bishop of Wollongong.

$ - Planned Giving –

The new batch of PG  Envelopes are available in churches this weekend. Thank you to our faithful contributors; your consistent support is vital to sustain various ministries within the parish, and ongoing maintenance costs. Over recent years there has been a significant decline in the number of Planned Giving contributors. One obvious factor has been the number of senior parishioners who have moved into residential care, and the number who have gone to their eternal reward. New subscribers are certainly needed and much appreciated. Insurance alone for the entire parish is currently at $45,000. Please, contact the Parish Office if you wish to subscribe to the Planned Giving Program. Contributions can be made by weekly envelope or monthly by direct debit. As we are all aware recurring costs and the wide range of maintenance within the Parish continue to increase, thus the need for new subscribers. Thank you for your support.

The Blessed Virgin Mary ‘Help of Christians,’  is particularly venerated in China at the Shrine of ‘Our Lady of Sheshan,’ near Shanghai, Pope Francis said during his General Audience in St. Peter’s Square, on Wednesday last. “This  occasion enables me to express my special closeness and affection to all Catholics in China, who amid daily toils, and trials, continue to believe, to hope and to love.. May our Mother in Heaven help you all to be witnesses of charity and fraternity, keeping yourselves always united in the communion of the universal Church. I pray for you and I bless you.”

The first Nowra Conference President was:  Ulric Walsh   (of Walsh Real Estate).                       Other foundation members were: Jim Brown ,Pat Doolan, Sam Howlett , W. Can we really make a difference? Yes! Catechists make a lasting difference in the lives of the young people that they teach.

There has never been a more critical time to engage in the faith formation of our young people.

If you can give 1 hour of your time per week to teach or help out in a classroom, please speak to Frances: 0413539370.

Please help make the Good News of known in our community by helping another catechist or taking a class at Bomaderry, Nowra East or Shoalhaven Head Public Schools.

prayer basket

Prayer Basket, Nowra Church:The Alpha Team and Nowra Community Group have arranged a Prayer Basket in the side foyer. There are prayer cards where you can write a prayer intention and place it in the basket.
An Alpha Team member will take the prayer intentions to the altar during the entrance procession.

People with Coeliac are advised there is a suitable Communion Host available for them in our churches. The host is placed in a pyx on the altar for consecration and is kept separate from regular hosts in the ciborium at the time of distribution. Fr Pat and Fr Duane have been consecrating these hosts for Coeliacs for the last few years. All you need to do is tell Father before Mass and he will see that your host is available for you to receive. If you would like more information, please contact Patricia Bourke 0433 509 636.
